Makara Health Celebrates 5th Anniversary

UK-based international healthcare comms and education agency, Makara Health, has reached the five year mark following rapid growth in both client base and staff numbers.

Founder and Managing Director, Louise Sharp, launched the company with the aim of offering something different in the healthcare comms arena. The client-facing team of directors and senior medical writers all have at least ten year’s industry experience, which means clients get access to seniority and strategic thinking on a daily basis.

At the same time, Makara operates a flexible model that enables staff to work from home – attracting senior talent from a range of health comms disciplines, often from in-house backgrounds, that may otherwise have opted to leave the industry due to changes of location or starting a family.

The approach has paid off with significant business wins taking the number of brands from 7 in the first year to 32 this year. Industry recognition has followed with Makara being chosen as finalists in 2017 for Communique Small Consultancy of the Year and PMEA Support Agency of the Year.

To celebrate it’s Birthday, the 28-strong Makara team of employees and associates, put together a short-film championing the virtues of the company model while also meeting to celebrate together in person.
